Dial-A-Ride Paratransit

Maywood Transit Dial-A-Ride offers a curb-to-curb shared transportation for persons with disabilities and seniors (62 years or older) who cannot use the Metro Express' fixed route system. Maywood Dial-A-Ride vehicles are clearly marked, feature comfortable seating and are wheelchair accessible. That Maywood Dial-A-Ride service provides transportation to any locations within City Limits.

Who is eligible?

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), someone with a disability is defined as: A person whose disability prevents them from using a fixed-route bus service.


  1. A person(s) with disabilities.
  2. An individual who is sixty-two (62) years old or older. 
  3. Resident of the City of Maywood (proof of residency required)


Those who meet this definition are eligible for paratransit services.

NOTE: Residents are required to provide proof of disability, age, and residency. An applicant must apply in-person, and a card will not be issued on behalf of another. 

  • The cost of photo ID swipe cards for qualifying participants is $5. 
  • For lost or damaged cards, a replacement fee of $5 will be charged.


Service Area

All paratransit trips travel within Maywood's service area, including within two (2) miles of City limits for medical appointments only, and to approved satellite points.


Hours of Service

Dial-A-Ride is available seven days a week, including holidays.

  • Monday - Friday: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. 


How much does Dial-A-Ride cost?

The participant's share of the trip cost is $1.00, which must be paid to the driver at the time of the trip (trips to and from the YMCA are FREE). Each participant is entitled to a maximum of 20 trips per month.


*Redeeming trips will require a photo identification swipe card issued by City Hall. 


NOTE: Only one swipe is permitted per trip. No round trips with one swipe. For each point visited, a fee of $1.00 is charged. Paratransit does not cover wait times. Drivers will not park and wait for a passenger to return for a second trip. 


How do I schedule a trip?

  • Reservations may be made up to one (1) day in advance, specifying the time and location of pick-up and destination. 
  • Recurring trips must be called in and confirmed two (2) days in advance. 
  • You may reserve a trip by calling Express Transportation Services at 323-576-3400.


When your trip day arrives:

  • Please be ready at least 15 minutes before your pick-up time.
  • Be prepared to wait up to 15 minutes after your scheduled pick-up time.
  • Watch out for the driver.
  • Drivers will wait for five minutes for each rider before continuing the route.
  • If your driver has not arrived within 15 minutes of your pick-up time, please call 323-576-3400



For Cancellations, call 323-576-3400 at least one (1) hour prior to the scheduled pick-up time. Patrons are encouraged to notify Express Transportation withing the stipulated ride cancellation period. If a trip is canceled within one hour of pick-up time, a “no-show” will be charged. Otherwise, there are no penalties.



There is a Dial-A-Ride suspension policy for participants lending photo ID swipe cards to family members or friends.

  • This program is reserved for qualifying participants only.
  • Any use of the card by someone other than the registered participants shall result in immediate termination of the Dial-A-Ride service.
