Southeast Rio Vista YMCA
The Southeast-Rio Vista YMCA (SERV Y) is one of the YMCA’s Cradle to Career Success branches in the core of urban LA County where communities are among the most in need of health, fitness, and community programs for youth, families, and seniors. The SERV Y provides, year-round sports and fitness programming for youth, including those who could not otherwise access any; wellness programming to families who often lack access to nutrition education and safe, free play space; a variety of senior programs, including health and wellness activities, volunteer opportunities, and even meal support; services to immigrant populations via its New American Welcome Center (NAWC); and, more. The mission of the Southeast-Rio Vista YMCA community-serving non-profit organization is to strengthen communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
On June 22, 2022, the City Council awarded $10,000.00 to the YMCA to purchase items for three (3) special events: Trunk-or-Treat, Turkey Giveaway, and the Annual Toy Drive.
On February 10, 2021, the City Council awarded $10,000.00 to the YMCA to provide staffing to operate the basic needs provisions. These events included Senior Food Deliveries, Distance Learning Center, and Grab & Go meal distributions for the youth and families of Maywood.
On October 13, 2021, the City Council awarded $10,000.00 to the YMCA to purchase item for Grab-N-Go events. These events include the following:
- Trunk-o-Treat - pumpkins and candy where purchased.
- Turkey Giveaway - frozen Turkeys where purchased.
- Toy Giveaway - Toys purchased for 400 youth.
All events were geared for providing services to Maywood Residents.
